South Sea Pearls
Pearls have been cultured in the waters around Australia , Myanmar ( Burma ), Indonesia and the Philippines since the first half of the 20 th Century.
Superb pearls with a diameter of 8-18mm, and over 20mm in exceptional cases, are cultivated in Pinctada Maxima oysters, which may grow up to the size of a plate. South Sea cultured pearls are found in various shapes and colours. From flawlessly round to grooved and even fantastic baroque shapes, their colours include white, cream, gold and silver.
